National Chung Hsing University Department of Finance | Kevin Huang
When it comes to politics, philosophy, macroeconomics, programming, history, and military strategy, Kevin Huang is always eager to dive deeper into each field. With his broad range of interests, he recalls that during the first half of high school, he thrived in a diverse leaming environment, particicating in various off-campus competitions - from themed architecture and programming to robotics. He even achieved impressive results two years in a row at Microsoft Taiwan's "MCUP Competition."
However, it was during one of these competitions, while presenting to the judges, that Kevin discovered what he truly loved: the art of communication and argumentation. This experience aligned perfectly with his growing interest in philosophy and politics. From then on, his academic focus took a dramatic turn - he began dedicating himself more to the exploration of ideas and the power of language.
His decision to major in Finance came from a desire to challenge himself and a growing understanding of how essential economics is in shaping national policies and systems. Without a solid background in finance and economics, he believes it's impossible to fully grasp the logic behind policies and institutions. Kevin humbly admits he's not exceptionally gifted, but he lives by a phrase from his elementary school teacher. "If others give 100%, I'll give 1,000%.” It's this mindset of self-discipline and relentless effort that has propelled him forward.
After graduating from Wagor Elementary School, Kevin enrolled in Mingdao Junior High. But within just seven weeks, he was overwhelmed by academic pressure and frustration. The intense competition began affecting his mental and physical well-being. Noting this, his parents supported his decision to retum to the more familiar and supportive environment at Wagor. Kevin now believes that the best way to repay his parents is through hard work and constant self-improvement. That's why he has always stayed committed to doing well in academic studies and participated in extracuricular activities throughout
his high school years.
As he prepares for graduation, Kevin has this message for younger students: "Choosing between the social sciences or natural sciences isn't the hard part. Honestly, which track you choose isn't as important as finding your passion - and once you do, go all in."
